Ripon Cathedral

This vibrant, living church has an unbroken history reaching back to the 7th century serving the small city of Ripon Cathedral and the vast rural county of North Yorkshire. Alongside our sister cathedrals of Bradford and Wakefield, we are here to welcome and serve those of all faiths and none, in this 21st century Diocese of Leeds.

We hope to inspire you to visit us as a worshipper, a pilgrim, a heritage enthusiast or a tourist, exploring this sacred space and the many delights of the local area. You are very welcome.

Worship and Music

With a history spanning 14 centuries, worship is at the heart of the cathedral and we rejoice in our vibrant choral tradition. Music and choirs enrich the services here and remain at the centre of many acts of worship.

Every day of the year there are at least three services – morning prayer, a Eucharist and evening prayer. On the majority of days there are also sung services. Throughout the Christian calendar there are a host of services which celebrate and support the life of the city, diocese and region.
