Reinterpreting John Rawls idea of a property owning democracy [3] Academic writing
hRawls sketched out—all too briefly— an alternative conception of market society that would adhere to liberal democratic norms, uphold meaningful liberty, and yet not be characterized by large concentrations of wealth and a politics in which vested private interests have a permanent upper hand. Rawls called this conception a “property-owning democ- racy,” and explicitly contrasted it to both the traditional welfare state and the command economies associated with historically existing socialism.
