- Landback is a movement of ceding land back to the indigenous tribes in the United States from whom it was stolen. The process is sometimes called Rematriation.
The Sogorea Te Land Trust [[1]] is the indigenous women led group that partnered with Movement Generation for the 43 acres ceced back in Oakland. It was on unceded Bay Miwok land. The Sogorea Te Land Trust has also gotten five other parcels in the East Bay.
Movement Generation is a non profit that partnered with the Ohlone Tribe in Northern California successfully gotten 43 acres ceded back in the Oakland hills [[2]]
Several other tribes have been doing this which we will post here. We are going to invite some of these groups to tell their story to catalytic and faith based investors at Neighborhood Economics’ conference in San Antonio February 26-28 [[3]]
