Had coffee with Moriah Dean from Dogwood yesterday and was sharing about some of the things NE is working on. She mentioned several orgs that are doing similar things in NC. You all familiar/connected with any of these folks?

Jeremiah,

Thanks again for taking the time to connect for coffee yesterday. As always great to see you and hear about all the awesome stuff you’re up to.

As promised, I’m listing the groups/ folks I mentioned… if and when you’re ready for an intro, just let me know, and I’ll connect you with any of the below.

[[Boundless Impact – This is the group that is working with faith communities to develop grassroots economic development strategies through their project ImagineHub – for reference here is a list of the hubs they have across the state. Cindy Thompson is their ED and my primary point of contact there.

Duke University – Ormond Center’s Church and Community Placemaking Lab They have a focused cohort training model and curriculum to help churches leverage their property for community and economic development. My primary contact here is Dr. Linda Silvery Coley, the Executive Director. One of the key consultants who supports this work is Christopher Gergen, who might be another person worth connecting with – his firms website is here.

Last but not least – Carolina Community Impact is a new and smaller CDFI that utilizes the KIVA hub model, alongside SBA products to provide micro loans – Kiva loans are at 0% interest, they are offering this both in Central and Western NC. They have a lender based in the Asheville area named Leslie Lewis My primary contact is Joe Battle, but have Lesilie’s contact and have met her a couple of times.

All my best, Moriah
