Last year I worked with Family Kitchen on an expansion plan, here is the blueprint which they actually implemented with operations in Redmond and Sisters. Now with the farm bill in negotiation we have an opportunity to renegotiate the nutritional assistance programs, not just the amount of budget but far more important the regulatory frame that suppresses competition and provides an unfair advantage to national retailers.

I did spend some time using my GPT to map out the system now in place, and see what it might take to make adjustments that resonate positively in the community. The idea is the help communities to make sure that there is always access to healthy food sourced locally, staffed locally, keeping the money turning inside the community.

Really excited that the board of family kitchen decided to go ahead with this idea, we'll start in July to meet, dedicate resources, and draft a project plan. I did write a Letter to the Editor in the local paper that was published just before I sent out this idea (attached).

I would love to declare this a prototype application process, there are volunteer kitchens in every city no matter what size who could benefit from this. I will connect with USDA when we get ready and engage them into the process from the start.

One topic that might be of interest to you Kevin is that we may want to combine this with a local currency. The double your buck program is not applicable, but something like it could funnel local donations to a debit card that can be restricted to participating vendors and specific types of products.

that's my idea. glad to follow other plans, as well. thinking about meta level collaboration with the launch, after five years, of holochain.
